Welcome!

Welcome to CICC 2000, the 22nd annual Custom Integrated Circuits Conference. The CICC is the leading international conference for IC development where new and first time published advancements are presented. It provides a unique forum for all individuals involved with IC development to meet and share information about the most recent advances in technology and its application to real world problems. You are cordially invited to participate in CICC 2000, as we convene this year for the first time in Orlando, Florida, at the beautiful Caribe Royale Resort Suites.

Educational Sessions

The conference starts off with four educational sessions on Sunday, May 21st. These sessions are taught by practicing experts currently working at the leading edge of their field. Main topics for these sessions are: 1) Selected Topics in System-on-a-Chip, 2) Current Issues in IC Design, 3) Wireless Design, and 4) Broadband Communications: Architecture and IC Development.

Keynote Speaker

On Monday morning, the technical program begins with the keynote speaker, Joe Pumo, Director of the System-on-a-Chip Design Technology Group at Motorola will discuss SOC: The Convergence Point for Solutions of the 21st Century.

Technical Program

The technical program offers exceptional technical papers that provide the latest and most significant developments in the IC industry. This year, close to 300 technical papers were submitted, of which 129 were selected and organized into 23 sessions. Topics for these sessions include: Analog, Wireless and Wired Communications, Custom & Low Power Circuits, System-on-a-Chip, Embedded Memories, Simulation and Modeling, Fabrication, Programmable Devices, DSPs, Test and Reliability, and Intellectual Property. As always, the technical sessions are highlighted by invited and tutorial papers by leading experts from the industry and academia.

Exhibitor Events

Monday afternoon the Exhibitor Preview Sessions kick off the opening of the Exhibits Hall. Here a number of our Exhibitors will present overviews of new products and services, as well as provide insight as to what is showcased in their booths. During the Monday evening Exhibitors' Reception, you'll find hors d'oeuvres, refreshments, and professional networking at its very best!

Luncheon Speaker

You won't want to miss this year's luncheon, as our guest speaker is Dr. Rudolf Danner from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. His talk, "Of Hummingbirds and Undiscovered Worlds: Optical Interferometery and NASA's Quest for Habitable Planets", is sure to be fascinating, as well as educational.

Panel Discussions

On Tuesday afternoon and evening, three spirited panel discussions are scheduled featuring industry pundits who are sure to offer strong opinions and discernments on the following subjects: "Timing Closure - Can Synthesis and Physical Design Really Get Along?"; "Outsourcing Design: Blessing or Curse?"; and "SOC - Does it make Dollars and Sense?" These panel discussions are always both entertaining and enlightening, and you're sure to come away with information and insights of the not-too-distant future.

Thank You

We extend our thanks to all the authors who spent many hours on the preparation of their submitted papers. We also wish to thank the CICC Technical Program Committee and our dedicated conference staff for all of their hard work and support. It's their diligent efforts that keep CICC as the best place to discover the latest in integrated circuit innovations, newest product announcements, and to debate the most effective business strategies.

See you in Orlando!
